“Maddie” and “Kevin” are an elderly couple in Mitchell county struggling each month on a small fixed income. For two years the pipe bringing water from the well to their home was cracked and broken. Their water was contaminated with dirt and debris. They could not afford the needed repairs and resorted to purchasing bottled water for drinking. The agency leveraged Healthy Homes Initiative funds with in-kind donations from the plumbing company, and a donation from the community church to provide the needed repairs, and now the couple enjoy fresh, clean, safe water in their home. They are so grateful for what was done for them.
