WAMY Donors Travel Around the World in One Day

WAMY Community Action donors recently boarded flights to destinations across the globe. With COVID restrictions in place, travels experienced luxurious destinations via the agency’s virtual “Around the World in One Day” fundraiser.

WAMY’s Development Director Ashley Cook concocted the idea for the virtual tips after the cancellation of the organization’s annual in-person Brunch and Bubbly event. “For the past two years, due to COVID-19, we have had to cancel our annual in-person event.” Ashley proposed Around the World in One Day as a virtual fundraiser that would still allow donors to engage in a fun way.

The $8,500 raised during the successful daylong event has provided assistance to more than 1,083 Avery, Mitchell, Watauga and Yancey individuals affected by COVID-19 and will help fund WAMY’s current programs.
