“Ian” is a single father with three daughters who came in to Experiment in Self-Reliance (ESR) under-employed. He wanted to increase his income and make a better life for his children. ESR helped him find summer childcare in order to maintain his employment. He expressed interest in completing culinary training and furthering his career in that field. So ESR supported him as he completed his Servsafe and International Food Safety Manager Certification.
Unfortunately, Ian then went through a temporary period of unemployment after his previous employer did not follow through on promises to make him manager after completing his certifications. But an ESR Success Coach helped him rework his resume and gave him a referral to a job fair. Ian attended the job fair and was offered a job from one of the vendors. He now works full time in the food safety industry.
Ian is so appreciative of his time in the program, and although he regrets not completing culinary training during his time in the program, he is thankful for the guidance and other opportunities he was able to take advantage of.
Great work, Experiment in Self-Reliance! We are grateful for all you do and all the people you help!
