Major Home Repair Program Spotlight

Jeremy Smith, owner and CEO, Smith Family Holdings, LLC, discusses his desire to help those most in need.

Jeremy Smith was introduced to the weatherization industry as a teen. His father, Garry Smith, owner of Blossom Home Improvement, was a weatherization contractor with Wake County for 15 years. “I worked for my father while attending Garner Senior High and during college at North Carolina State University (NCSU). During those years, I learned many important aspects of weatherization and the construction industry in general.”

After earning business and math degrees from NCSU and a master’s degree in financial mathematics, he went on to work in investment banking in Manhattan and Atlanta. “But,” he said, “I always had a desire to build,” and left Investment banking in 2018 to obtain a general contractors license.

Today, Jeremy is the owner and CEO of Smith Family Holdings, LLC, a residential and commercial construction company launched in 2018 that he said is founded on integrity. “I demand the absolute utmost moral integrity with respect to each aspect of my company. My faith in Jesus Christ is the most important driver of how I make decisions and conduct business for Smith Family Holdings.”

After four years as a business owner, Jeremy finds the most fulfilling aspect of his job to be the transformation process. “It is rewarding to complete a project that was non-existent or in terrible condition, then transform it into a beautifully finished product while receiving amazing gratitude and satisfaction from my client.” Ultimately, he desires to work with non-profit organizations and public agencies such as the North Carolina Community Action Association. “I’d like to build and remodel homes for less fortunate individuals, families, disabled elderly, disabled veterans, widowed/widower veterans, and spouses of widowed/widower veterans,” he said.” In doing so my vision is to employ, train, and help reform as many ex-convicts as possible within my company.”

While fulfilling, running a busy day-to-day construction company leaves little time to relax. “I enjoy spending downtime with my family, working out, riding my road bike, fishing, and serving at my church, Upper Room Church of God in Christ.”
