Head Start is a childcare and educational program from children 0-5 years old that is design to help children be prepared for school and life. We are proud to partner with North Carolina Head Start Association to provide these services to the low-income families who need them. Most of our agencies run Head Start and Early Head Start programs across the state and serve hundreds of families each year. Chelsea is one mother whose children attend the Early Head Start and Head Start programs provided by Mountain Projects. This is her experience with the program.
My name is Chelsea and I have two children in Mountain Projects Head Start. My son Isaiah is five years old and has been in Head Start for two years and will be in kindergarten this coming school year. My daughter Isabella is two years old and is in Early Head Start. This coming school year she will be moved into Head Start for the older kids.
I encourage all families who need assistance with childcare to look into this program. These teachers are hardworking and give children the attention they need. Both my son and daughter were potty trained by their teachers. My son is well prepared for kindergarten. My daughter has learned to count to ten, say her ABCs, and knows the parts of her body. I have volunteered much of my time in their classrooms and have made friends with these wonderful teachers.
If it wasn’t for Mountain Projects’ Head Start, my children wouldn’t be able to be in any facility because the price of childcare is way out of my range. The Head Start program allows me to work so I can provide for my family. I don’t think I could be as independent as I am without this program, so thank you!
